Newport Back Bay 

Newport Back Bay is another favorite of Kila Couture, offering you the chance to bring your dog to the bay to enjoy the scenery and maintained hiking trails.  Dogs must be on leash, as this is not a dedicated dog park.

The Newport back bay consists of an estuary, one of the few remaining in Southern California, which is home to several hundred different species of birds, including a few that are endangered.

The bay is also a stopover point for migrating birds on the Pacific, and depending upon the time of year, you may see up to several thousand birds migrating to and from the bay.  Kila has an insatiable curiosity for birds, so this is one of her favorite places to visit.

It is important to stay on the trails, since this ecosystem is very fragile.  The parking is plentiful in a lot on the grounds and the nearby streets.  Admission is free.
